The Renewable Energy Innovation Fund (REIF) and the University of Montevideo have entered into a partnership to manage technical assistance for investment projects in technologies and infrastructure for the second energy transition.

The REIF Uruguay Program is an initiative of the United Nations and the national government that promotes Uruguay's second energy transition through an innovative financial instrument. In conjunction with banks, REIF finances investments that transform industry and transportation, and generate social and environmental impact. 

Through this link, made by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the University of Montevideo will be responsible for coordinating the selection, hiring and supervision of experts and companies specialized in the field of renewable energies, with the aim of enhancing the quality and viability of investment projects with REIF financing.

The collaboration between REIF and the University of Montevideo will strengthen support to companies in the development of innovative projects. The University will contribute its experience and technical capacity to ensure the effectiveness and success of technical assistance at all stages of the process, from pre-application to project implementation.

This partnership between REIF and UM reflects the importance of articulating the academic sector, industry and international cooperation in the promotion of innovation and sustainable development.
