Building the future: REIF and Scotiabank co-finance IXOU's sustainability initiative

REIF, together with Scotiabank, supports the sustainability and energy efficiency initiative of IXOU's Brusco Building Project. This real estate development, a pioneer in Uruguay, will have LEED PLATINUM certification for offices and LEED GOLD for housing.

Brusco is a project that since its conception has contemplated energy generation and efficiency as central issues, for that reason, and within the framework of REIF, they will install 6 heat pumps, which will contribute with 23% of energy savings compared to conventional solutions. In addition, they will incorporate 6 chargers that will reinforce the public charging network for electric vehicles.

In addition to this, Brusco's uniqueness lies in being a project conceptualized as "Place Making", which indicates that the same development enables the possibility of living, working, studying and entertaining, resulting in lower emissions associated with transportation and mobility, in addition to the energy efficiency measures that the project itself has.

And all this without losing sight of the design, which is the responsibility of international architectural firms (Mathias Klotz, Minond and Hauser), and which gives the development a unique aesthetic sense for the city.

Regarding the co-financing of this high impact investment, Horacio Correge, Country Head & CEO of Scotiabank said; "At Scotiabank we drive a challenging sustainability agenda by focusing on the areas where we can have the greatest impact. That is why we are pleased and proud to facilitate with REIF the financing of this energy efficiency project, which we are confident will be the first of many others".

REIF will continue to closely follow the evolution of the Brusco Building Project, providing technical assistance for impact measurement and reporting, as well as in the implementation of gender equality practices within the framework of the project.
