Cutcsa, Uruguay's main urban transportation company, operates 67% of Montevideo's bus fleet and transports 65% of the Metropolitan Area's passengers.In line with its environmental commitment and the electric mobility policies promoted by the government, the company is incorporating 50 electric buses, advancing towards the goal of electrifying 25% of its fleet by 2025.

Impact

The incorporation of electric buses significantly reduces the fleet's CO₂ emissions, contributing to cleaner and more sustainable urban mobility. In addition, collective transportation reduces the number of private vehicles, reduces congestion, improves air quality and contributes to road safety.The incorporation of accessible electric units boosts compliance with accessibility goals. Cutcsa serves mainly middle and lower income sectors, with a majority of female users. Although the workforce is still mostly male, the company promotes gender equity and adhered to the Women's Empowerment Principles in 2018.
