Bitafal will install the first charging station for large electric vehicles. - REIF

Bitafal will install the first charging station for large electric vehicles.

After incorporating the first 100% electric large truck in the country, Bitafal takes another step forward in its commitment to the energy transition and will install the first autonomous electric charging station designed for large vehicles in Uruguay. The new infrastructure will have 12 high-power charging points for heavy vehicles, buses, utility vehicles and cars.

The project stands out for its self-sufficient design: energy will be generated, stored and distributed on the same site by means of a photovoltaic system backed by high-capacity batteries. This model ensures operational autonomy and sets a precedent for the expansion of electric charging solutions in the country.

The electric gas station responds to a specific need: to guarantee the operation of Bitafal's electric truck, but also to open the service to third parties, which enables the transition of other sectors and industries to electromobility.

REIF as a strategic partner
The support provided by REIF and BBVA allowed Bitafal to incorporate key technologies for its transition:

  • - a heavy-duty electric truck,
  • - 250 and 500 kW fast chargers,
  • - electric boilers,
  • - and an energy storage system.

In addition to financing, REIF provided non-reimbursable technical assistance in several dimensions: support in the evaluation of the electro-lane project, carbon footprint measurement, and gender awareness workshops, strengthening both environmental management and the company's social commitment.
